My 7-Ingredient Overnight Oats Recipe: Simply Delicious!

Hey there, fellow foodies! Today, I’m spilling the beans on my all-time favourite breakfast – overnight oats! If I had to describe this recipe in just two words, I’d say “simply delicious”! As a self-proclaimed “serial oats eater,” I’ve been relishing oats even before they became the latest Instagram trend. Oh yes, way before oats were cool!

A trip down memory lane 

You know how some childhood memories stick with you forever? Well, my mama used to whip up a delightful bowl of oatmeal, and I’d savour every spoonful. Little did I know that oats would become a staple in my life and my taste buds’ ultimate craving.

I’ve experimented with oats in so many ways. From oat pancakes that make weekends extra special to oats as a delightful accompaniment to my mom’s mouthwatering okra soup, and of course, in smoothies! To make them creamier and more satisfying. 

But my ultimate oats adventure began when I discovered the magic of overnight oats. Now, I must confess, I was a bit sceptical at first. As an oats enthusiast, I’d seen these trendy recipes flooding my social media feeds. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Would they live up to the hype?” Oh boy, was I in for a treat!

One evening, as I was winding down and planning my activities for the next day, I realized I needed a quick and nutritious breakfast before hitting the gym. As I eagerly awaited my grocery delivery, I rummaged through my pantry like a treasure hunter on a mission. Lo and behold, a pack of quick oats caught my eye, and inspiration struck!

Let’s get cooking!

Now, let’s dive into the magical concoction that took my breakfast game to a whole new level. 

Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • Half cup quick oats
  • 1 teaspoon of organic honey – for a touch of natural sweetness.
  • Half a teaspoon of cocoa powder – because chocolate makes everything better, right?
  • A pinch of salt – just a tiny pop of flavour.
  • 1 tablespoon of organic smooth peanut butter – because, let’s admit it, peanut butter is life!
  • Water – as much as you need to achieve your desired consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons of full-fat powdered milk – to make it luxuriously creamy.

Are you ready to make breakfast magic? Here’s the enchanting spell:

  • In a jar, pour some warm water, enough to dissolve the cocoa powder, milk, and peanut butter. It’s like creating a potion for your taste buds! Ah, the aroma alone will whisk you away to a breakfast paradise!
  • Now, sprinkle in that pinch of salt, and add the milk, cocoa powder, honey, and peanut butter to the warm water. Stir it all up until it transforms into a smooth and velvety mixture. 
  • Add your quick oats to the mix and stir it all together. Depending on your preference, you may need to adjust the consistency with more water. Remember, we’re aiming for that perfect balance – not too runny, not too dry. Find your oats’ sweet spot!
  • Your masterpiece is ready! Seal the jar tightly and let the oats work their magic in the refrigerator overnight. Trust me; it’s worth the wait!

I love mine cold, straight from the refrigerator. The creaminess of the oats combined with the sweetness of honey and the nutty goodness of peanut butter create a symphony of flavors that dance on my taste buds. And each spoonful reminds me of those cosy mornings spent with Mama!
